Aurifil

I discovered this thread in 2013 and it has transformed my sewing!  It’s beautiful to look at and a dream to sew with for dresses, quilt piecing and for any project with lightweight delicate fabric like Liberty Tana Lawn.  I am slowly building up my stock of colours! I use a size 70 or 75 needle for this, either a Microtex sharp or embroidery needle.

YLI Machine Quilting

Now this is really good for doing the actual quilting at the end of the process of making a quilt.   I particularly like the variegated colours for using with Liberty prints which have several colours in the pattern.  I use a size 90 patchwork quilt needle with this.

YLI Soft Touch

I have several of these and use them as bobbin threads instead of aurifil sometimes.  They are very light and thin and don’t work well with thick thread on the top, you have to keep it a similar weight.
