Online Shops

Good experiences!

I used to get a lot of my Liberty fabric from Very berry Fabrics on Folksy and Alice Caroline on Etsy.  Both sellers are very nice and friendly and helpful and the fabric comes beautifully packaged.   Unfortunately Very Berry no longer sells Liberty.

Abakhan – There’s an Abakhan near to me so I don’t often buy from them online.  They used to be expensive for delivery but now have a cheaper option which makes it much better!  Their website has a good range of fabrics, yarns and equipment and delivery times are fairly quick.  When the stuff comes via their DPD contract you get a text telling you the two hour slot when the van is delivering which is extremely convenient!

Black Sheep Wools  – also an actual shop which I have visited and love it!  However I first came across them online and their delivery times are very quick.

The Cotton Patch –  also an actual shop but I’ve never visited it.  Their online sales are great as stuff comes really quickly!

Rainbow Silks – another ‘real’ shop which I haven’t visited but have ordered online from them.  Their products have been consistently good and their customer service is excellent.  The staff are friendly and are willing to  make sure you are happy with your products.

Wool Warehouse – brilliant for yarn and cheapest price I have found for Stylecraft Special double Knit !  They are incredibly quick to deliver! The yarn always arrives in a lovely and useful organza drawstring bag.

Wingham Wool Work

This is both an online and real life shop though I don’t think it’s open every day of the week for visiting.  I purchased my Ashford Knitters Loom from Winghams and was very pleased with their communication and delivery times.  I’ve since ordered extra parts from them which have also been sent promptly. They have also been helpful with questions about choosing a loom.

LoveKnitting

This is another online yarn store.  Really good prices and very quick delivery.  I love the organza bags which they deliver the yarn in and as an added surprise there is sometimes a sweetie in the bag!

Not so good experiences!

Doodlestop

My experience with Doodlestop is one I hope never to experience again.  Despite an initial good transaction buying a  Wip-o-pedia my second transaction  to purchase a loom from them finally ended after three months of broken delivery date promises, outright lies and various excuses,  with a refund issued during a vicious verbal attack and slander about me personally,  from what appeared to be friends of the vendor, who took offence at a customer asking questions on social media.  As Doodlestop had stopped bothering to reply to private messages, social media was my only recourse.  It seems I was not alone in receiving this treatment from both Doodlestop and their cronies.  I would not recommend purchasing from them without reading their Facebook reviews and the visitor posts page to see the full extent of their bad business practice and appalling customer service.

E fabrics – good for very cheap prices.  I used them quite a lot in the past,  however their customer service was less than helpful so I no longer order from them.

Ebay I’ve bought quite a lot of fabric from ebay although the sellers often stop trading which can be frustrating!
